Other BusinessBusiness DevelopmentThe airport’s infrastructure also supports a range of other activities including a Pilot Training College, International Academy of Travel and a number of small aviation related businesses. The Irish Coastguard Search and Rescue bases two Sikorsky rescue helicopters in a purpose built hangar at the airport flying regular training missions and vital rescue missions. CHC, the Coastguard’s operating company, now service their aircraft in Waterford and also use it as a training facility. Waterford Airport is currently at the early stages of a substantial capital development programme to be completed by end 2009. The total programme amounts to €27.7 million, with €22.3 million of this funding recently allocated by the Irish Government (Department of Transport).
