Galway

Galway is one of the fastest developing vibrant cities in Europe; it is the country’s fifth largest gateway and is a major hub for visitors to West Ireland. It has long been known as "The City of the Tribes" and this title could not be more appropriate these days, given the multicultural vibrancy of present-day Galway.

A Combination of a vivacious student population, great festivals and lots of visitors combine to make Galway one of the most lively entertainment scenes in the World. Music, festivals, horse racing, pubs, restaurants, shops, theatres and most of all Galway people, combine to create a most atmospheric medieval destination.

A great many of the inhabitants are Irish speakers, and much of the ancient Gaelic culture is preserved. Galway is a perfect base for seeing the West Ireland, drive along the coast road from Galway to Spiddal and view the splendour of Galway Bay or continue west into the Twelve Pins of the Connemara mountain range. Alternately, day tours of The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher, and of Connemara are available at the tourist office. Several outlets around town and at the tourist office sell ferry tickets to the Aran Islands.
